Write Letters and Lobby
Lobby season is coming up! Join us in Olympia as we join our community partners to advocate for common goals.
Together, we will speak in one voice to say that immigrants and refugees make Washington a better place to live, work, and thrive. WAISN will bring together immigrant rights activists from across Washington state.
Faith Action Network (FAN) Interfaith Advocacy Day in Olympia, February 6th, 2020
Meet at The United Churches of Olympia, 110 11th Ave SE, Olympia, WA 98501 between 8-9am, programming lasts until 3pm.
FAITH ACTION NETWORK’s Interfaith Advocacy Day brings the voices of compassion and justice to our elected leaders. Meeting with your legislators and their staff on this day is putting your faith into action!
Registering early is important this year because there are new regulations limiting attendance to only 250 participants at the church, so the sooner you sign up the better! Please pay ahead of time, either when you register online or by phone or mail, so that we can guarantee you a spot.
Check-in at 8:30 am at Temple Beth Hatfiloh, 201 8th Ave. SE, Olympia, WA 98501
Join your friends, neighbors, congregants, and fellow engaged citizens in Olympia for Jewish Community Lobby Day! We’ll do all the prep work for you; no prior experience necessary. We’ll spend the morning together at Temple Beth Hatfiloh in Olympia – learning about the issues, practicing our lobbying pitches, and getting fueled up (yes, that means food!) for our afternoon on the hill. During lunch, we’ll caucus by individual legislative districts and discuss strategy for our upcoming meetings with legislators. After lunch, each group will walk a few short blocks up to the Capitol to meet with our respective legislators to discuss the issues that are most important to you – like combating hate and discrimination, protecting immigrants and refugees, preventing gun violence, supporting vulnerable families, and more! For additional information, a schedule for the day, and registration, click here.
We know getting to and from Olympia can be a challenge, so we will be running two buses for participants. One bus will leave from Congregation Beth Shalom; the other will leave from Herzl-Ner Tamid. The cost for the bus is $22 per person.
We would love to welcome students (high school, undergraduates, and beyond) participate in Lobby Day — after all, young people are often the most effective and passionate advocates! All students under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian or a chaperone who has signed a liability waiver for them.
