Beth Shalom Chapter Sewing Sisters Days For Girls
Help Girls Stay in School in Cameroon!

All ages, genders, and religious faiths welcome.

Sewing skills not necessary. This is a great project for high school students who need volunteer hours and for b’nai mitzvah students who are searching for a fun and meaningful mitzvah project.  Families welcome. Light dinner provided. If you are interested, feel free to show up.

About the Project: Our primary goal is to build cross-cultural communities that work for good & have fun together. Last year 10 members from our community of Saturday Sewing Sisters carried 1,200 kits from the SSS community to school girls in Cameroon. Our goal is 1,500 kits to take in Cameroon in December 2016. The Days for Girls (DfG) kit design is the result of feedback from    women all over the world. Listening is an approach that results in solutions that work. Every washable Feminine Hygiene Kit gives back up to 6 months of living in just 3 years of use. That’s 180 days of education, health, safety and   dignity.  See the Days for Girls website.

Let’s help those in need and prepare and serve food with other CBS and Temple Beth Am folks.  You can just help cook, just help serve, or help with both! We will need parents to drive kiddos from CBS to Lake City and stay with us while we serve the food.

Cooking: 3-4:30pm in the CBS Kitchen

Serving: 5pm-6:30pm at Lake City Meals (at Lamb of God Lutheran Church, at 12509 27th Ave NE, Seattle, WA 98127.)

Congregation Beth Shalom is thrilled to once again host the annual Shaarei Tikvah Purim celebration of Jewish Family Service.

Join us for the fun, the food (Hamentashen – what else?), and the opportunity to do a mitzvah: being in community and hearing the story of Purim.

Beth Shalom’s Not Ready for High Holiday Players will put on the annual Purim play, there will be singing and sections of Megillah.

All are welcome and encouraged to join us.

Seattle Nimratz USY will be participating in a meal in Lake City to feed the hungry in our neighborhood. It’s a great way to give back to our community, and can count for volunteer hours for any school requirements you may have! We look forward to seeing you there and doing this important Social Action work together, not to mention having a great time with friends old and new!
