The CBS Immigration and Sanctuary group is meeting to discuss our ongoing efforts in immigrant justice. Topics usually include home hospitality support, coordination with the Church Council of greater Seattle, support for the AIDNW welcome wagon at the NW detention center, political advocacy opportunities, and any other local work in immigrant justice. Come to an informative and lively evening to support immigrant justice. Havdalah with Sephardic melodies by Brivele, Salvadoran Pupusas, Wine, and Desserts followed by Music and Dancing with Klezmer band Shpilkis. Speakers including an immigrant recently released from the Northwest Detention Center, representatives from the WAISN Fair Fight Bond Fund, and more.

Close the Camps: Tuesday Vigils at Seattle ICE office

NOON to 2:00 pm, July 9 – September 24, 2019
1000 2nd AVE, Seattle, WA  98104 (downtown, at the southeast corner of 2nd AVE & SPRING ST)

Join CBS members to protest the detention of children. We will use this time and space as an organizing hub to demand that Senators Murray & Cantwell travel to the border to witness the conditions at these camps, report back to their constituents in a large town hall forum, and work to defund and close these camps.

You do not have to stay for the whole time-feel free to join us for as long as you can!

The Detention Lottery — Play at Temple Beth Am

Wednesday, May 8th  6:30pm

The CBS  Immigration and Sanctuary group is co-sponsoring a production of “The Detention Lottery” at Temple Beth Am. “The Detention Lottery” is an immersive dramatization of what goes on in a detention center’s immigration court, written by Seattle area immigration attorney Margaret O’Donnell and performed by eight other local immigration attorneys.  The performance is appropriate for junior high students and older.  Sign up with the link below.

We will hear a special D’var Torah from CBS Member Haim Mizrahi about leaving Egypt. Our Kiddush lunch that day will celebrate foods from around the world and include recipes shared by our speakers for the day. At 1:15pm, we will hear personal stories from members of our community, including individuals who came from Guatemala, El Salvador and Turkey.
