CBS Teen Trip to Washington DC
Friday, February 7, 2025 • 9 Shevat 5785
All Day for 3 DaysFor our Teen Trip this year, we are going to Washington DC with other teens from the conservative movement! We will be participating in a program called Ruchot, which is a community organizing and advocacy training focused trip. The trip will take place in from Friday, February 7th through Monday, February 10th. It will include Shabbat at Adas Israel, a vibrant conservative congregation in D. C., learning from experienced local community organizers about different schools of thought for organizing for social change, lobbying local representatives on Capitol Hill, and exploring the role Judaism plays in our identities as organizers. We will also visit monuments, eat delicious kosher food, and for the sports fans, watch the Super Bowl!
We are thrilled to share that this trip is open to all CBS 8th-12th graders, and with the support from the SAMIS Foundation, the cost to participate (including air fare!) is only $100. We will fly together, along with staff from CBS, and meet up with the trip staff and all the other participants in DC.
Is your 8th-12th grader interested in participating?
Apply and find many more details online: https://www.jtsa.edu/ruchot/
Note: Beth Shalom is not managing applications or registration for the trip. Please do not contact office staff about registering.
The deadline to register for the trip is January 21st.
When you register, make sure to indicate that you are from Congregation Beth Shalom in Seattle - this way you will get the discounted price of just $100. We will purchase a seat for you on our group flight from SeaTac.
We also have additional scholarship funds available through CBS - if you have any questions about the trip, would like to request scholarship funds, etc., please reach out to Rachel Wachtel at rachelwachtel@bethshalomseattle.org. We can’t wait to see you in D.C.!
P.S. on the Ruchot website it says this is a trip for high schoolers, however our CBS 8th graders are also welcome to join!
