1:00 PM - 2:00 PM

In the aftermath of October 7th, Israeli civil society stepped up when the government was absent. Within one week, the New Israel Fund, which works to safeguard human rights, build equality, and defend Israeli democracy, put together and implemented a robust emergency action plan. NIF’s plan invests in strategies that disrupt the extremist agenda, contain the damage done by efforts to deepen the war and entrench the occupation, and push forward a future for Israel grounded in equality and in justice for all.  Join us for learning with Hillel Asaf to hear more about NIF’s response over the last nine months and the vision for the “day after.”

Hillel Asaf is the Director of Affiliate Relations at the New Israel Fund (NIF). Before joining NIF, he worked with the veterans organization Breaking the Silence, focusing on ending the occupation and documenting social injustices. From 2019 to 2022, Hillel served as the Assistant to the Executive Director in Israel, navigating through a period marked by political upheaval, war, and a global pandemic. Recently, Hillel led NIF's response in Israel following the events of October 7th, a role he considers one of his proudest achievements. A native and resident of Jerusalem, Hillel holds an MA in Jewish History from the Hebrew University.
