The Book of Numbers with Rabbi Rob Toren
June 24 @ 7:30 pm - 8:45 pm
An event every week that begins at 7:30 pm on Wednesday, repeating until August 19, 2020
The Book of Numbers, in Hebrew, “Sefer Bemidbar” (Book of ‘In the Wilderness’), presents us with a series of Israel’s failures in their relationship with God and Moses. What are the causes of such failures? In many respects, these types of failures are played out over and over again in the rest of the Hebrew Bible. In spite of such negative “PR,” we Jews have found inspiration and wellsprings of meaning and strength through these very rich narratives. What were the reasons for these failures? What lessons can we learn, both particular to the Jewish people and universally to all of humanity? Knowledge of Hebrew is helpful but not required. Please register below. Tuition goes towards Congregation Beth Shalom’s adult education fund to provide scholarships/future programming. Please contact Melani Baker if cost is a barrier to participating, or with any questions.
Time: Wednesday nights, 7:30-8:45pm
Dates: June 24 – August 19, 2020 with no class on July 15 or July 29 (7 sessions)
