Being the Light Amidst Darkness: Women’s Leadership as a Way Forward

Fadia was born in Jordan. In October 2015, with the encouragement of some local and international NGOs, a women’s council was created in Jubbet al-Dhib, and Fadia, a housewife and mother of six, has served as the President since its founding.
Fatima is from Jubbet Al Dhib and has lived in the village for her entire life. She is married and has one son and two daughters. She previously served as the Deputy Head of The Women’s Committee of Jubbet Al Dhib and now is responsible for Networking. The committee networks with international and national NGOs to improve the quality of life in Jubbet Al Dhib.

Danielle Shani, Co-Founder & Co-CEO, BeDo – Generating Change, Differently
Dr. Shani is Co-Founder & Co-CEO of BeDo – Generating Change, Differently. She was Executive Director of “aChord – Social Psychology for Social Change”, and Founder and Director of the Mandel Center for Leadership in the North of Israel. She holds an MA and PhD in political science from Princeton University as well as a BA in philosophy and political science and an MA in political philosophy from Tel Aviv University. She was a Schusterman Fellow, a Fulbright Scholar, a Fellow of the Woodrow Wilson Scholars program at Princeton University, and the winner of the Knesset award for exceptional academic achievements. Danielle worked at the Israel Democracy Institute. As a journalist, she was head of the news desk at the Yediot Acharonot newspaper, and served as a political correspondent, news editor and broadcaster on Galei-Tzahal radio station. Danielle serves on the board of Comet-Me, an Israeli-Palestinian organization providing green energy and clean water services to off-grid communities using environmentally and socially sustainable methods.
