Join Beth Shalom Members at the Homeless To Renter (H2R) Simchat Sukkot Event

Sunday, 9/26 from 7:00-8:30pm at Temple Beth Am

The Homeless to Renter (H2R) program has supported move-in costs for nearly 130 families and nearly 300 children struggling with homelessness.  Beth Shalom is an affiliate member of H2R and our members have contributed greatly to its success.  You can support H2R in two ways:
First, please join fellow Beth Shalom members at the Simchat Sukkot event for the Homeless to Renter (H2R) program, on Sunday, September 26th, from 7-8:30 pm at Temple Beth Am. The evening will feature a talk by Doreen Cato, executive director of First Place. Light refreshments, wine and beverages will be served. The requested minimum donation for the evening is $18.
Please RSVP to Temple Beth Am at 206-525-0915 no later than September 22nd.

Second, you may donate directly to the H2R fund by sending a check to Beth Shalom, simply note "H2R fund" on your check. All funds are administered through the Jewish Family Service.

DONATIONS FOR FIRST PLACE SCHOOL
In my bat mitzvah parsha, Lech Lecha, we will read that Avraham and Sarah leave all they have - just like the kids who attend the First Place School. The First Place School offers free housing, education and support services to families facing homelessness. These kids barely have anything.

For my mitzvah project, I am collecting school supplies to be donated to this school for homeless children. I am requesting donations of "back-to-school" related items, for example: backpacks, pencils and pens, paper, colored pencils and markers, glue sticks, scissors, etc. These kids should start the school year off with new school supplies and they need anything we can bring.
I have set up a collection bin at  Beth Shalom, at my school, the Jewish Day School (JDS), at my alma mater, Seattle Jewish Community School (SJCS) and at my home. You can also donate to them directly:
First Place
P.O. Box 22536
Seattle, WA 98122
(206) 323-6715

I will plan to take all donations directly to First Place School right after my bat mitzvah on October 16, 2010. Thank you in advance for your generous donations.
